A loving husband, devoted father, and respected community member, Deputy Bonham’s untimely passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family, colleagues, and all who knew him.

Originally from East Tennessee and later residing in Greenfield, Deputy Bonham served with the Weakley County Sheriff’s Office for just under two years. Despite his brief tenure, his dedication to protecting and serving the community was evident in every call he responded to. Known for his integrity, bravery, and compassion, Derrick was the embodiment of professionalism and duty.

On the morning of Friday, January 30, 2026, Deputy Bonham answered the call of duty in Martin, responding to reports of gunfire. In the midst of a rapidly escalating situation, gunfire erupted, and Deputy Bonham was struck while assisting his fellow officers. Despite the best efforts of first responders, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after being transported to Volunteer Community Hospital.

Beyond his badge, Derrick was a devoted family man. His wife and three children were the center of his life. He was a father who provided love, guidance, and strength, and his family will forever hold his memory close. His colleagues remember him as a courageous officer, always ready to serve, and a brother in arms who exemplified the true spirit of law enforcement.
