Manhunt Search After Eight Violent Inmates Escape Northeast Louisiana Jail

A large-scale manhunt is underway in northeast Louisiana after eight violent inmates escaped from the Riverbend Detention Center early Friday. The escape has prompted an urgent response from local, state, and regional law enforcement agencies, with heightened concerns due to the violent nature of the offenders, three of whom are facing murder charges.

The escape was discovered around 1:20 a.m. when several inmates were found missing from their cells. Three of the escapees—Hugo Molino (27), Trenton Taplin (29), and Savon Wheeler (31)—have been captured, but five others remain at large, and are considered to be a significant threat to the public.

The escapees still on the run are:

  • Destin Brogan, 22

  • Kelin Looney, 21

  • Krisean Salinas, 21

  • Kevin Slaughter, 25

  • Koplelon Vicknair, 19

In response, the East Carroll Parish Sheriff’s Office has handed over the lead role in the investigation to the Louisiana State Police Detectives – Monroe Field Office. Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill is also directly involved in coordinating state resources and overseeing the investigation.

Authorities are urging residents not to approach the escapees and to contact law enforcement immediately if they have any information. The situation has raised significant concerns about jail security, and an internal review will be conducted once the manhunt concludes.

The priority remains to safely apprehend the remaining fugitives and bring them back into custody.
