DINWIDDIE COUNTY, Va. — The Dinwiddie County community is mourning the tragic death of 75-year-old Linwood Earl Williams, a man from Snow Hill, North Carolina, whose life was suddenly and senselessly cut short in a hit-and-run crash on Friday night.
Virginia State Police responded to the 6500 block of Boydton Plank Road at around 8:50 p.m. after reports of a pedestrian being struck. Linwood had exited his vehicle to speak with the driver of a tractor-trailer when he was hit by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene.
Despite being transported to Bon Secours Southside Medical Center, Linwood tragically succumbed to his injuries. The driver responsible for this incident remains unidentified, leaving the family with grief and unanswered questions.
